This Generation's Marlon Brando AND Martin Scorsese

Post by ColoredButtholeFlaps »

When James first burst onto the scene everyone seemed quick to proclaim him the next James Dean which was obvious by his looks alone. But after an almost 30 year career I think we need to expand that. He has the acting chops obviously but what he has been able to add as a new director I don't think can be matched. He's not making the biggest budget movies (yet) but what he has been able to push as an auteur in the beginning of his career reminds me a lot of Scorsese from the 60's and 70's and I think he is only going to get better.

I had never really thought about that until now. Mean Streets was one of my favorite movies growing up. The Sound and the Fury is one of the best films of the 2010's and a lot of it reminded me of it. There is so much grittiness to it. Great obeservation!
