Train Wreck

I can't explain it. This movie is so watchable, I'll throw it on every once in awhile. It's entertaining, technically well done (Ridley Scott duh), but literally everything the characters do is completely idiotic and would go against any rational persons decision making. Is it like watching a train wreck? Where you know it will be catastrophic but you can't help but keep watching? You say there is no way a character would be that stupid to do that and then they do that.

I don't know if it would better serve the movie if there was some backstory on the crew and colonists similar to how they setup Prometheus. Maybe show them that they were dumb and part of a cult but had a lot of money to have the ship. It's only 2000 colonists so not likely a good indicator of the intelligence of the world at the time. I think there was a lot of deleted scenes with James Franco. I'll have to watch them again but maybe they show that he and Daniels were the only smart people on board (she warns against going but still no mask or helmet).

Fassbender is great though, he definitely carries it.
